Damn you Kanye! Well, its easy to be good when you’ve got a gold-plated team: Rihanna, Elton John, Fergie, John Legend, The-Dream, Ryan Leslie,
Tony Williams, Charlie Wilson, La Roux’s Elly Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Kid Cudi.
A song and video from ‘School of Seven Bells.’ I saw this at Amy & Pink:
The American indie band School of Seven Bells, which is named after a mythical South American pickpocket school, belongs with its quiet and the two twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza related songs to the more dedicated music groups. With the video for their new song called “Windstorm” they create, however, a small, magical masterpiece about the urban jungle and the search for other people and ourselves. Beautifully made.
I get the urban jungle, the search for people and ourselves. I just don’t know if I would have gotten that from the lyrics (see below) or the song by itself. But now, how cool right? It helps she’s got sweet tattoos and the look of someone totally deep. Might have to check another video at their site: School of Seven Bells and see if its a stunt or actually insightful. Hard to tell these days!
Lyrics:
Wind mills cut through, the voids of hiding the
Imagine then truth the eyes neglect to see what
The heart pursues then my heart finds a dream in me
It sees you in the untouchable
That’s not to say that I don’t feel the limitations and the
Dropped from the expectation its not lying
But the heart of creation is the only
Thing proven true to me
When the fires burn and from sky to ground
Swing my weight around, begin the windstorm
When the fires burn and from sky to ground
Swing my weight around, begin the windstorm
[Refrain]
Time passed has shown shadows of where my shoulder
That has goes on, movement of my desires
Lost like a storm, cast out and wished into
A well with no sound, you’ll answer at the end
